Computer is a programmable machine that helps to process the undefined thing by using computer software. There are some Sort and ease diffinition about software.
- A set of instructions given to the computer to solve a problem is called Software,
- A software is a set of computer programs that we can operate in the computer.
- Software is a single/collection of programs that performs a particular task.
- Software is also called Program.
Generally, software is classified into two classes, they are, systems software and application software. Systems software includes the programs that are dedicated to managing the computer itself, such as the operating system, file management utilities, and disk operating system. Application Software is created to perform specific tasks for a user.
System Software:
System software is the software that is used to control and co-ordinate the hardware and the software. System software includes the programs that are dedicated to managing the computer itself, such as the operating system, file management utilities, and disk operating system (or DOS). Without systems software installed in our computers we would have to type the instructions for everything we wanted the computer to do!
Application Software:
It is a software that is used for specific purposes. It is needed for the user to run the program in the computer. Application software, or simply applications, are often called productivity programs or end-user programs because they enable the user to complete tasks, such as creating documents, spreadsheets, databases and publications, doing online research, sending email, designing graphics, running businesses, and even playing games! Application software is specific to the task it is designed for and can be as simple as a calculator application or as complex as a word processing application. Gernarlly, these software are developed using the high level languagesuch as COBOL, C, C++, Java, .Net, Php etc.
