Denmark go through in second – thanks to a yellow card shown to Slovenia coach
In an extraordinary match in Group C, Denmark finished second after one of the Slovenian coaches received a yellow card earlier in the tournament.
After the goalless draw against Serbia and England on Tuesday evening, Denmark and Slovenia completed the group with three points with a one-goal difference.
Normally the number of goals scored indicates which team finished the group best. However, Denmark and Slovenia were also tied on this measure with two goals each.
From here it comes to discipline during the competition. However, both teams received 6 yellow cards each in the group matches. Once again they were inseparable; Until it turned out that the appointment of one of theSlovenian coaches in the Denmark match was a very important decision.
The private license was in many ways more interesting than what happened on the ground in Munich. Serbia came into the match needing a win to survive in the tournament but underperformed.
Serbia's desperation was summed up by the absurd behavior of Aleksandar Mitrovic, who spent much of the last fifteen minutes on the floor hoping to fool the referee. His dive and the ensuing challenge with former Fulham teammate Joachim Andersen were signs that Serbia were losing focus in a tournament that had never cost them anything.
There was also frustration in the stands. Serbian fans once again threw plastic cups onto the pitch, delaying the match. Most of those goals came after an offside flag had effectively prevented Serbia from scoring in the second half.
